KHELONE OTTOMAN Pietro Franceschini

Ø 79 x H42 cm

Khelone was a beautiful and proud mountain nymph in Ancient Greek Mythology. She attracted many suitors, both mortals and deities and is associated with sensuality and fertility. When she haughtily refused a summons to attend the wedding of Zeus and Hera, the god Hermes transformed her into a lazy, stay-at-home tortoise. Designer Pietro Franceschini drew from this tale to visualise the Khelone ottoman.

Pietro Franceschini is an architect and designer based in New York and Florence. His latest project PF|Studio was born in 2020 as an interior and furniture design practice. Franceschini’s collections are minimalistic, sophisticated and raw at the same time.  Working across mediums for his inspired imaginings, it is clear that visualisation and narrative are important to his practice.
