METROPOLIS STOOL Laurids Gallée

35 x 35 x H45 cm

The name Metropolis is derived from Fritz Lang’s 1927 science-fiction film, where a highly stylised futuristic city is presented as a cultural utopia above a grim underworld.  Taking from this scape the aim became to engineer material to create a piece that reflects the rhythm of modern architectural construction, something created out of many individual building blocks, like bricks or tiles.  The transparent quality highlights the stool’s interior anatomy, creating a different pattern from every angle that results in a prismatic effect.

The Metropolis stool with a corner desk was the designers first commission, for a young couple’s Parisian apartment.  The Metropolis stool is now included in the designers collection with additional pieces soon to be introduced, including coffee table.
